About me

Hi, I'm Zoe, welcome to Mums get sick too.

Being a mum though rewarding is a hard enough job for anybody, being a mum with a long-term illness or disability can make things twice as hard (and make everything take twice as long). I've created this blog in order to create a platform where we can unite and share our triumphs and disasters as well as tips on juggling, illness or disability with family life, careers and a social life.

I'm twenty-three and from Wales, I have a six-year-old son named Cain, A fiance who I am marrying on April 8th next year, a fluffy cat named Hamish and baby number two on the way (Due the day before Cain's 7th birthday after Cain announcing that he had wished for a baby brother or sister when he'd blown out the candles on his 6th birthday cake).

I am currently undiagnosed and under the main care of Rheumatology as well as being referred to Genetics who have now referred me on to Muscular Neurology for tests. I've had ongoing problems with joint pain since my early teens mainly my knees but has now spread to other joints, I have hypermobility, chronic fatigue, I'm very skinny and am relying on aids to walk right now due to severe muscle weakness in my legs.

Up until recently I worked part time in a nursery but have had to leave my job after being on long term sick and having no hope of going back to manual work. I also write for an online literature and culture magazine, study lots of short courses and am starting a BA Honours degree in English Literature and creative writing from home.
